The Italian-Canadian driver’s second-row qualifying performance showed his potential, before technical issues and contact in Race 1 hampered his weekend. He finished seventh in the second race aboard Target Competition’s #15 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Aldo Festante concluded the penultimate round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli with seventh place in Race 2, after a weekend in which his promising qualifying performance did not fully translate into results. The Italian-Canadian Target Competition driver faced a series of setbacks that limited his chances of fighting at the front.

Behind the wheel of the #15 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Festante began Saturday with a strong qualifying performance. His best lap of 1:35.293 secured fourth on the grid for Race 1, while his second-fastest time of 1:35.620 earned him sixth for Race 2. Both provided a solid platform to challenge for the leading positions.

However, an engine issue increasingly affected the car’s performance as the weekend progressed. In Race 1, contact and a penalty further complicated Festante’s race, leaving him 17th at the finish and unable to capitalise on his second-row starting position.

Sunday’s race brought additional brake issues alongside the difficulties already encountered. Despite these limitations, Festante finished seventh, returning to the top ten without being able to show his full potential.

His qualifying performance remains a positive to take from Misano, with the focus now on analysing and resolving the technical issues encountered. Work with Target Competition will be key to ensuring that the pace demonstrated over a single lap can also be translated into performance over a race distance.

Aldo Festante:
“It was a challenging weekend in which we were unable to show our potential. We had an engine issue that increasingly affected our performance as the sessions progressed. Contact and a penalty made race one more difficult, while in race two we also experienced brake issues. It is disappointing that we could not turn our work into a result”.
