An uphill struggle for Festante at Mugello

MUGELLO – The second round at the Mugello circuit ended up with the sixth position in Race 3 for Aldo Festante. After a good start during Qualifying, the three races of the weekend have been compromised by a lack of performances of the car. For these reasons, the Italian-Canadian driver couldn’t perform on top of his conditions.

The sixth event of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth held at the Mugello circuit ended up with a negative result: 11th place in Race 1, 13th in Race 2 and a good improvement in Race 3, with a 6th place.
Although the qualifications started in a positive way, with a 9th and 7th position, the performance of the young Capuan driver dramatically got worse when Race 1 started, with a loss of speed affecting the whole race weekend.
A well-known problem for Aldo Festante that also affected the Imola race weekend, where the pilot was forced to retire for technical reasons related to the car.
Race 2 was extremely unlucky: a certain corner was surprisingly dirty and several drivers including Aldo went in the gravel in that point of the track.

“A really tough weekend, as expected, I was very happy about my qualifying performance on Friday since we had a massive gap to close in FP1, but on Saturday and Sunday, we inexplicably lost straight line speed. I wasn’t able to fight with other drivers, sometimes I was getting overtaken like I was standing still while I really struggled to get a slipstream, with my result in race 3 we closed the weekend in a kind of good way even if over the lack of straight-line speed I also had a suspension failure making my life even harder, I brought it home thanks to a good tyre strategy and a really aggressive way to defend in several parts of the race that might have compromised it”
