The Italian-Canadian driver heads into the first back-to-back event of the season following the opening round in Monte Carlo. A completely different challenge awaits at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the focus will be on continuing the development process with the Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) alongside Target Competition.
Barcelona (ESP), 12 June 2026 – There is barely time to look back on the prestigious Monte Carlo opener before Aldo Festante returns to action for round two of the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, scheduled for this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The Italian-Canadian driver will once again be at the wheel of the Target Competition-run Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) #28 as he continues his international programme in the championship that supports the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, taking on one of the most complete and well-known circuits in world motorsport.
After the narrow streets of the Principality, where precision and risk management are crucial factors, Barcelona will provide a completely different environment. The 4.657-kilometre Catalan circuit has long been regarded as one of the best proving grounds for drivers and cars thanks to its combination of high-speed corners, technical sections and heavy braking zones that test every aspect of performance.
For Festante, the Spanish round will represent an important opportunity to build on the work carried out in Monaco and to focus more heavily on outright performance on a permanent circuit. The characteristics of the track should allow the potential of the Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) to emerge more clearly while providing valuable data and experience as part of the development path undertaken together with Target Competition.
The weekend programme got underway today with Free Practice from 18:30 to 19:15. Qualifying will take place on Saturday from 11:20 to 11:50, while the race is scheduled to start on Sunday morning at 10:10 and will run over 16 laps or 30 minutes plus one lap.
Aldo Festante
“Monte Carlo is always a unique and extraordinary event, but Barcelona is a completely different challenge. We are back on a permanent circuit that everyone knows very well and where it is possible to focus more on performance and race pace. It is a very complete track that requires a well-balanced car, and every detail can make a difference to the lap time. The level of competition in Supercup is extremely high as always, but we arrive in Barcelona with confidence and the determination to keep improving throughout the weekend.”
