The Italian-Canadian Target Competition driver finished the two Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup races in 17th and 14th place. Attention now turns to the season finale at Monza.
Zandvoort (NL), 24 August 2026 – It was a more challenging weekend than expected for Aldo Festante at Circuit Zandvoort, which hosted the penultimate event of the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. With the Dutch weekend featuring a special two-race format, counting as the sixth and seventh rounds of the season, the Italian-Canadian worked alongside Target Competition to find greater competitiveness at the wheel of the #28 Porsche 911 Cup (992.2).
The difficulties emerged from the opening sessions and continued into Saturday morning’s qualifying. Festante set the 19th-fastest time with a best lap of 1:36.872, a result that left him starting from the back of the field for both races on a circuit where overtaking opportunities are particularly limited.
In Race 1, held on Saturday afternoon over 17 laps, Festante focused on putting together a consistent race, staying out of trouble and gaining two positions to finish 17th.
A further step forward came in Race 2 on Sunday. The Target Competition driver managed to make his way up to 13th position at the chequered flag, before a post-race penalty dropped him to 14th place in the final classification.
The Dutch weekend therefore provided the team with several areas to analyse ahead of the final round of the season. The focus will now be on assessing what emerged at Zandvoort and recovering the level of competitiveness previously shown, particularly at the same circuit during Festante’s earlier appearance there this season in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Aldo Festante:
“It was certainly a weekend below our expectations. Considering how competitive we had been here in May, I was expecting something more in terms of outright performance, but already from free practice I had the feeling that there was something on the car that was not working as it should. I am convinced that there are some areas we need to check, and the guys will work at the workshop to analyse everything ahead of Monza. In the races, we managed to improve the situation slightly, staying out of trouble and bringing home a few points, although a penalty in the second race dropped us from thirteenth to fourteenth. We tried to limit the damage, but overall we were missing the speed and race pace we would have liked. Now we need to understand what did not work and make sure we arrive at Monza in a completely different position, ready to show our true potential again”.
The 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will conclude at Monza, where Festante and Target Competition will return to action for the eighth and final round of the season.
