The Italian-Canadian driver starred in the opening round of the Carrera Cup Deutschland: fifth in Race 1 and fastest lap of the weekend.
Imola, April 20th 2026 – Aldo Festante’s opening weekend of the 2026 season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, hosting the first round of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship support programme, concluded with positive indications.
At the wheel of the #28 Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) run by Target Competition, Festante showed competitive pace from the outset, confirming the solid work carried out during the winter preparation.
Qualifying highlighted steady progression: seventh overall in Q1 with a 1:43.223, followed by a further step forward in Q2, where he secured fourth place with a best time of 1:42.544.
In Race 1, Festante delivered a solid and composed performance, showing strong pace from the early stages and effective management in on-track battles. After a well-executed recovery, he crossed the line in fifth position, remaining consistently within the leading group and confirming the potential of the package.
Race 2 proved more challenging, affected by circumstances in the opening laps that forced the driver onto the back foot. An unavoidable contact sent Festante into the gravel, dropping him to the rear of the field. Despite this setback, he maintained competitive pace, setting the fastest lap of the race in 1:43.221 — the quickest time across both races of the weekend.
Aldo Festante:
“It was a very useful first weekend to start the season. We showed good pace from the first sessions and the car proved competitive. Race 1 was solid, while in Race 2 we had a few situations to analyse, but we still managed to take the fastest lap. We gathered a lot of important data and built a good working base. Now focus shifts to the next round, with the aim of continuing to improve.”
